Call for Artists: Abstract Mind 2027: the 12th International Exhibition on Abstract Art
CICA Museum inviterer kunstnere fra hele verden til å delta i «Abstract Mind 2027», den 12. internasjonale utstillingen om abstrakt kunst. Utstillingen ønsker verk innen maleri, tegning og trykk, skulptur og installasjon, fotografi og 2D digital kunst, samt video- og interaktiv kunst som utforsker abstraksjon og uttrykk for sinnet og abstrakte konsepter.
Valgte fotografiske og digitale verk trykkes og rammes inn av museets kuratorer i standardstørrelser, med mulighet for større formater mot tilleggsgebyr. Video- og interaktive verk vises via prosjektor eller DVD/DivX-spillere som museet stiller til rådighet, mens kunstnere selv må dekke frakt av fysiske verk til og fra museet, med definerte størrelses- og vektbegrensninger for maleri, skulptur og installasjon.
Utstillingen finner sted fra 19. mai til 13. juni 2027 (med forbehold om endringer). Søknad sendes som e-post med opptil 5 JPG-bilder og/eller 3 videolenker samt kunstnerbiografi. Dersom et verk blir valgt ut, må kunstneren betale et bidrag på 78 USD (ca. 110 000 KRW) per verk for å bekrefte deltakelse og dekke utstillings- og vedlikeholdskostnader.

Exhibition Open Call For 2027/2028
QSS are delighted to welcome exhibition submissions from artists and curators at all stages of their career to be included in our 2027/28 Gallery Programme.
We are able to offer a number of exhibition opportunities in both Gallery 1 and Gallery 2 and are interested in solo or group proposals in any fine art medium.
Making your proposal
Interested artists should fill out a Google Form and email between six and eight images of work (as a single PDF) and an artist c.v* (as a single PDF) with the subject heading 'QSS 2027/28 Open Call Supporting material'. Please use the same email address as entered in this form.
*For group shows please provide c.v's for all exhibiting artists.
Selection criteria
QSS exhibition proposals are assessed by a rotating panel of current QSS members and are assessed on the following criteria.
- Quality and strength of submitted work (50%)
- Strength and clarity of exhibition proposal (30%)
- Feasibility within technical and financial parameters (10%)
- Inclusion of outreach (10%)

Application deadline: Sunday 1st November 2026, 11pm.
To support the living and working conditions of artists, QSS will pay an exhibition fee of £250.00 per show. To help us assess the feasibility of your proposal, please provide budget notes on how you might fund ambitious elements of your proposal.
Incomplete applications will not be assessed – please remember to include your supporting material via email.
Successful applicants will be notified by early December 2026.
Due to the high number of expected applications and as the selection panel works on a voluntary basis, we are not able to provide individual feedback on unsuccessful applications.
QSS does not promote or accept artworks that are solely created via the means of cloud-based generative AI services.
2027 Illustrators Exhibition
One of the flagship initiatives of the Bologna Children's Book Fair, the Illustrators Exhibition offers both established and emerging illustrators an exceptional opportunity to showcase their work to leading professionals in children's publishing, gaining visibility during the Fair and well beyond its duration.
Each year, an international jury of distinguished experts selects the works to be featured in the Exhibition and published in the Illustrators Annual, the official catalogue, available in Italian, English, Japanese, Korean and Chinese, and distributed worldwide.
Following the Bologna Children's Book Fair, the Exhibition embarks on a two-year touring programme, travelling to Japan, South Korea, China and other countries. In addition, the Exhibition, either in full or in part, will be presented at other major events, creating further opportunities for the selected illustrators to promote their work and gain wider exposure.
Kunstvisitt's group exhibition at Nitja in 2027
On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of Kunstvisiten, we invite artists to apply for participation in Kunstvisiten's group exhibition to be shown at Nitja in 2027.
A comprehensive report from the World Health Organization (WHO, 2019) documents that creating and experiencing art strengthens people's health. Since its establishment in 1987, Nitja's department Kunstvisiten has annually produced and delivered exhibitions, mediation and art workshops to activity centers, day centers and institutions within mental health in Akershus. Currently, 14 different receiving venues receive the offering. Kunstvisiten is the only mediation offering of its kind in the country.

Nitja covers artist fees, and Kunstvisiten's group exhibition is part of Nitja's exhibition program in 2027. Nitja supports transport, installation, documentation and mediation. Production support is not included, but Nitja can assist in applications for additional funding and production support from public and private support schemes.
