Description

This five-week residency at Banff Centre invites visual artists to think broadly about performance – how it arises through movement, stillness, reading, listening, endurance, care and collective action – and how performance and materiality meet.

Through their own experiments in the studio and shared investigations, artists will create new relationships between bodies, objects and spaces. The magnificent landscape around Banff becomes a collaborator in the process and opens up possibilities for site-specific works.

The faculty consists of artists Brendan Fernandes (USA/Canada) and Claire Fleming Staples (USA) and curator Abril Zales (Mexico).
