New Moon Writers' Residency is a non-profit, artist-run residency in an old wooden house in the center of the small town of Mänttä-Vilppula in Finland, known for its art museums and rich cultural life. The residency is intended for writers, translators, illustrators, editors, and others working with children's and young adult literature.

Applicants can apply for stays of between one week and three months. Each guest receives their own private room with bed, desk, and storage space, as well as access to shared common areas including kitchen, living room, two toilets, bathroom, and a wood-fired sauna. It is also possible to apply to rent the entire house, for example for a family or team.

House rent covers the necessary costs for running the house: 160 euros per week or 310 euros per month. No specific requirements or expectations are placed on artists during their stay – the goal is to provide an inspiring framework for creating new stories. Applications are submitted via the residency's own website, and all applicants receive a response at the beginning of November.
