Open Call: Land / Ecological Art on Eulsukdo, Busan
Busan invites individuals and teams from around the world to propose a site-specific land or ecological artwork for Eulsukdo – a river mouth island where the Nakdong, South Korea's longest river, meets the sea.
The island is an important stopover for migratory birds along the East Asian-Australasian Flyway. It was previously heavily transformed by agriculture, landfill and urban development, but is today restored as a wetland and bird habitat. This layered history invites reflection on coexistence between humans and other life.
The call seeks original proposals that respond to the island's ecology, landscape, history and changes – with minimal intervention in nature and clear environmental responsibility throughout the work's lifetime. The opening is planned for May–June 2027.
