Sheni Studio and Residency is an independent, artist-driven retreat in the subtropical hills of Zeda Akhalsheni, Adjara, just outside the coastal town of Batumi in Georgia. The residency was founded by a self-taught Georgian painter and multidisciplinary artist, and offers a peaceful, inspiring framework for artists who wish to focus on their own practice without fixed production requirements.
Residents have access to a private studio on the ground floor with large windows, LED lighting, wood stove, and wood and metal workshop, in addition to a private residence of 108 square meters with its own bedroom, kitchen and bathroom. Daily breakfast, assistance with purchasing artist materials in Batumi and pickup from airport/train station are included. The program is primarily aimed at painters and visual artists, but is also open to sculptors, designers and other craftspeople.
The stay lasts 1–3 months in the period 15 December 2026 to 15 March 2027, and costs EUR 1000 per month (up to EUR 3000 for three months). Application is free and requires a PDF with CV, artist biography, portfolio and project description, sent by email by 15 November 2026. No scholarships, travel support or production funds are provided – the artist covers travel, visa, insurance and materials themselves.
