Urban Arts Residency is run by the non-profit organization Asociación Jupiterfab and offers residencies for artists in a renovated colonial house in the Colonia Americana neighborhood in central Guadalajara, Mexico. The residency can accommodate up to five artists at a time, distributed across four studio/living units, and emphasizes projects with social themes such as gentrification, migration, equality and social justice, although this is not an absolute requirement.

The residency typically lasts from one to six months, with a recommendation of a minimum of two months for a full experience. The disciplines covered are broad: street art, visual art, literature, photography, architecture, sculpture, curating, film, research, textile work, performance, sound installation and multimedia. Artists are expected to organize a final exhibition or event to showcase the results of their residency, and the residency assists with logistics, communication and contact with local galleries and events.

Each artist or duo must cover a monthly residency fee of 550 EUR (750 EUR for duo), which includes electricity, gas, internet and water as well as access to a fully equipped kitchen and shared workspace. No scholarships, travel support or production funding are provided by the residency – costs are fully covered by the artist themselves.
