BRAZZA is a small, self-contained artist residence in a small town on the Charente River in southern France. The residence welcomes writers, artists, photographers, practitioners and researchers. As a writer, you live in a separate apartment with a separate entrance from the street, and you have access to a communal garden.

The stay normally lasts two weeks and you can extend to one month. They can only accommodate guests for one week. The place has a photo studio with darkroom, a bright studio, and quiet rooms with good windows for writing. Twice a week, all the residents eat dinner together in the main house.

No finished production is expected from you, but if you wish, the residence can arrange public readings if the texts are in French or can be translated. You apply by sending your portfolio, project description and a completed identity form to their email address. The stay costs 385 euros per week per person, plus 150 euros per week for any guest, and this does not cover the cost of – only accommodation. Spaces are limited, so early application gives greater chance of space.
