ILLAPSE is the artist residency program of Lapse in Barcelona, and is aimed at artists and other professionals in contemporary art who wish to further develop their practice. The residency offers an individual workspace of 14 square meters in a shared studio community with four other artists, as well as access to a shared area with kitchen facilities. The program is particularly interested in interdisciplinary and experimental projects that promote knowledge exchange between disciplines and cultures.

The current intake is for the period January to March 2027, where applicants can choose to stay for 1 or 2 months with a start date of January 15, 2027. The residency is not suitable for practices requiring large space, heavy equipment or technical infrastructure, such as performance, ceramics or large-scale material work.

The residency is self-financed: the artist pays a monthly fee of 500 EUR for studio space and shared areas, while housing costs come in addition and must be arranged separately. No financial support, grants or travel coverage is provided by the organizer. Applications are made through an electronic form where you upload a combined PDF with project description, CV, artistic statement and portfolio samples.
