Ongoing AIR AWARD is an artist residency (work stay) in Tokyo, arranged by Art Center Ongoing in the Kichijoji district. The stay lasts two months, from May 8 to July 8, 2027, and you must be present at least 2–3 days during the period. Winners of the award receive free accommodation and get to showcase their work in an exhibition at the art center.

To apply for the award, you must submit at least two letters of recommendation, in addition to an application form, CV or artist profile, a portfolio and relevant images, audio clips or videos. If you apply for the Ongoing AIR without competing for the price, the stay costs 200,000 Japanese yen for two months.

You get a separate room, but share a bathroom, toilet and kitchen with two English-speaking staff who help you with practical things in Tokyo. You must cover travel, subsistence and production costs, and you must have insurance that covers injury, illness and theft in Japan. As part of your stay, you are expected to give a lecture and create an exhibition.
